A Day in the Life of Willie Grace, CEO of HBB
Hawaiian born and raised most of my life on the beach of Waikiki with the beach boys. Preparations for the everyday are under way long before the day itself begins, setting up the surfboard's and opening up the beach stands to provide the guest with beach chairs and umbrellas, outrigger canoe ride and surfing lessons. Working on the beach of Waikiki is like being a host to thousands of guest's, and on a beautiful typical Hawai'i sunny day it is breathless. Trying to stay fit is a job that the beach boys do, to keep in top shape by paddling surfboard's, and the outrigger canoe's that keeps your upper body in tone with that gold brown skin color that everyone is trying to get on the beach.

The Waikiki and Hawaiian Beach Boys are a few good men on the beach that is now part of your ''Ohana'' family. With the Sand and the Sea that belongs to each and everyone of us, because we love the (Moana) ocean so much that we must mold and shape her future as we see it for the benefit of her people and Hawaii. Waikiki beach and the beach boys share, and got the word starting with the Aloha spirit, and it is always here. The (ALOHA) love is here also, and the ocean is here to play with and learn the sport of the (Ali'i) Kings surfing from our people of the Aina (land) because it is our heritage, and it will always be here and for ever. People around the world back in the day would travel to the 50th state because of the words Aloha, Waikiki, Surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, Hula Girls, Grass Shacks, Diamond Head and to see the ''Brown Skin Boys know as the Beach Boys''.
The boys would embraces the beautiful shore lines with beach towels, beach chairs, canoe rides and surf lessons from some of the well know local Waikiki beach boys. It was there motivation to teach you a sport that was part of there Hawaiian culture. You had a comfortable feeling of going into the ocean with them for the first time in your life.

The Waikiki Beach Boys are dedication to the ocean, and have a passion for the ocean and they understand the tides, reef, ribs tides, currents, waves and they have a personal respect for there ocean water. I have always been around at the right times to have had so many special moments, for me to have been right there. I have also had so many good times, and special moments with the boys. Remember that I have seen, heard and have felted the ''ALOHA'' from the past Hawaiian Beach Boys, and have heard their story's throughout the years. We have spent sometimes Wala'au (Gabble or Loud Talking) with each other about our life, good and bad times, surf, girl's, party's and who had the best looking girl, and ride or wave of the day. We would get so deep at times with the boy's playing and jamming on there ukuleles and singing some old, and new Hawaiian song's with the green bottle's being past all around. I have always seen how much Duke Kahanamoku has done for Hawai'i and Waikiki.

I starting surfing back in 1967 down at Waikiki Walls as early as the age of 8th years old. I took part in my first surf meet at the age of 15th years old in 1973 in a middle and high school surf meet at Ala Moana Bowls Before the surf pack events. That was the start for me in surfing event's and I got 2nd place in the boys 13 to 15 years old division. I got my hands into so many things that I had to try to see what it was like to try to cover all of the tradition part's of the surfing world. There was shaping surfboards, glassing, airbrushing, photographs, movie 8mm, 16mm, back in the day. Today there are so many new ways about photography, like digital video, digital cameras that makes it easer, and is the best thing rather then the old style of putting a roll of film into the camera.

For me ''The MANA & UHANE (POWER and Soul & SPIRIT) of the ocean is so beautiful in Hawai'i that one must understands and have respect for the sea like our people of the Hawaiian culture. We belong to the Moana (OCEAN) or Kekai (THE SEA) because its a sacred place that I feel and know that all the Hawaiian people came from. Some day that is where I what to return back to the ocean where I came from. I feel that there was a need for me as a Hawaiian Beach Boy to share my Pu'unaue (Share) with you about my life as a Hawaiian Surfer and a Hawaiian and Waikiki Beach Boy tradition in perpetuate one of the world famous beaches where ALOHA came from...
I feel that I am one
of the new or becoming a old timer on the beach, that I feel I have
to give back something to represent one of the few Hawaiian Beach Boys
left in Waikiki still today, and that is why I am writing this Palapala
(Paper) book. I feel that I have to keep this foundation that was past
on to us from the Kupuna's of Hawai'i to perpetuating the tradition
of Aloha on the beach of Waikiki by the Hawaiian Beach Boys.
Be the best of who you are... Words by: Willie Grace
